VISUAL-EYES-IT !!!!!

15,000 kms, 12 countries in 8 weeks by road??? Wow- you think this is EXCITING enough? I can't wait to hit the road but with just two weeks to go and lots of planning, there is still alot to be done. Planning the LEADERSHIP Expedition trip to connect with youth in different countries that have leadership qualities is not an easy task. Our first exciting adventurous trip started in the Rift Valley this past weekend. We left Nairobi on Thursday night with the aim of getting to Maralal. After a group vote we decided to camp out in Naivasha and head on out to Maralal the following Morning. Pitching tent in the dark was no fun and cooking by torch light proved to be quite a daunting task but we DID IT!!!! I must admit camping was a great experience and we all learnt alot- building a camp fire, pitching tents, cooking in the dark, cold showers, fighting off hippos and monkey's, map reading, etc. etc. etc.

Ofcourse I must mention the Monkey Thieves in Naivasha that stole our bread!!!!!

I think the best part of this trip was in Nyahururu-Samuel Wanjirui, the Kenyan long distance runner who won the 2008 Beijing Olympic men's Marathon in an Olympic record time of 2:06:32, was in Nyahururu his hometown. On Saturday, the mayor Of Nyahururu along with all the city officials organized a fantastic Homecoming event at the Nyahururu Stadium and guess who was there to meet him with the rest of his fans????- THE WAZIMBA TEAM!! - live and direct!!!!! What was even kooler was the personal interview we were fortunate enough to have with him.
Stay Tuned and take the visual journey with me of lots of beautiful images from different countries in the Sub Saharan African region
